Symrise Completes Its Acquisition of Floral Concept
Symrise has completed the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Floral Concept, the French premium natural fragrance ingredients house headquartered in Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne in the Pays de Grasse. Floral Concept now forms part of Symrise’s Fragrance division and, together with Maison Lautier 1795, will constitute a dedicated Naturals cluster in the Grasse region. The transaction, first announced via a put option agreement in July 2026 and closed in the third quarter, strengthens Symrise’s Premium Naturals platform by adding specialised sourcing relationships, raw-material expertise and transformation capabilities while preserving the acquired company’s authenticity and entrepreneurial character.
What Floral Concept Brings
Founded in 2002, Floral Concept develops and supplies premium natural fragrance ingredients for fine fragrance. Its portfolio includes extracts of jasmine, rose, orange blossom, ambrette and blackcurrant, among other high-value botanicals. The company has built its reputation on quality, craftsmanship and close relationships with growers and processors in and around Grasse. That combination of material quality and local networks is precisely what larger fragrance houses seek when they move beyond commodity naturals into the premium segment.
Formation of a Grasse Naturals Cluster
Symrise is pairing Floral Concept with Maison Lautier 1795, its existing naturals house rooted in Grasse heritage, to create a focused Naturals cluster in the Pays de Grasse. The cluster is intended to combine complementary strengths across responsible sourcing, extraction, transformation and the link into fragrance creation. By concentrating these capabilities in the historic heart of the French natural fragrance industry, Symrise aims to offer customers a richer and more coherent palette of premium natural ingredients while maintaining the distinct identities of the two houses.
Strategic Fit with ONE Symrise
Michael Friede, President of the Scent & Care segment, has described the acquisition as a step that strengthens the Premium Naturals platform and adds exceptional sourcing and transformation expertise to the Fragrance business. The move aligns with the broader ONE Symrise strategy of connecting specialised local platforms with the group’s global innovation, perfumery and customer-solution capabilities. Frédérique Rémy, General Manager of Floral Concept, has emphasised continuity of craftsmanship and partner relationships alongside access to Symrise’s broader global platform and innovation resources.
Why Premium Naturals Matter
Fine-fragrance brands and consumer-goods companies continue to seek distinctive natural materials that support authenticity, origin stories and sensory differentiation. Supply of many of these botanicals is inherently limited by climate, agronomy and labour. Companies that control or closely partner along the chain—from cultivation and primary extraction through refined qualities—are better placed to guarantee consistency, traceability and long-term availability. Acquiring a specialised Grasse player is a direct way to secure that positioning rather than relying solely on the open market.

Integration Priorities and Business Continuity
Symrise has stressed preservation of Floral Concept’s authenticity and entrepreneurial spirit. Business continuity for customers and employees is a stated priority. In practice, integration is likely to focus on linking sourcing and quality systems, expanding access to Symrise’s global customer base, and feeding Floral Concept’s materials into a wider range of fragrance projects, while allowing the Grasse operation to retain the specialist character that made it attractive.
Implications for the Fragrance Ingredients Market
The completed acquisition adds another concentrated premium-naturals capability under a major global fragrance and ingredients group. Competitors without a comparable Grasse footprint may find it harder to match the combination of local material access and international account coverage. For buyers of jasmine, rose, orange blossom and related extracts, the deal creates a stronger single platform but also raises the strategic importance of dual sourcing and long-term contracts in a segment where supply remains structurally tight.
Outlook
Completion of the Floral Concept acquisition gives Symrise a clearer Premium Naturals platform in the Pays de Grasse, anchored by Floral Concept and Lautier 1795 and connected to the group’s global Scent & Care organisation. Success will depend on retaining the quality and relationships that define Floral Concept while scaling access through Symrise’s commercial network. In a market where natural origin and supply security increasingly influence formulation and purchasing decisions, the Grasse cluster positions Symrise more strongly in the upper tier of natural fragrance ingredients.
